Infielders

Amed Rosario's 151 strikeouts is a concern, but he contributes elsewhere on the field. The shortstop recorded 18 defensive runs saved last season, the highest among shortstops. Andrés Giménez improved his batting average from .263 in 2021 to .297 in 2022 and led the league in triples with eight.

José Ramírez remains one of the top players on the Guardians roster and in Major League Baseball. Ramírez had 35 doubles and 54 walks last year, which helped his on-base percentage finish at .356.

Josh Naylor struggled mightily in 2022, batting only .204. He did record 108 hits, 22 doubles, and 78 RBIs, so there is some hope that he will improve next season.

Outfielders

Myles Straw is a great asset to the Guardians, contributing both offensively and defensively. In 2022, he stole 23 bases and had 7.3 defensive runs saved.

Steven Kwan made an immediate impact on the team in his rookie season. He led the team in on-base percentage at .374 and hits with 173.

Oscar Gonzalez had a solid season in 2022, hitting .296 with 11 homers and 50 RBIs. He will look to take a step forward next year.

Catchers

Luke Maile and Austin Hedges split duties behind the plate for the Guardians last season. Maile had a slightly better offensive season, but Hedges was better defensively.

The Guardians added Mike Zunino in the offseason, who is a veteran catcher with over 1000 games of experience. He should be able to provide the team with more offense than they got from Maile and Hedges.

Starting Pitchers

Shane Bieber was an All-Star in 2022, going 13-8 with a 2.88 ERA. He is the ace of the Guardians' staff.

Triston McKenzie took a step forward in 2022, going 11-11 with a 3.06 ERA. He is a young pitcher with a lot of potential.

Cal Quantrill has been a solid innings eater for the Guardians, going 15-5 with a 3.38 ERA in 2022.

Relief Pitchers

Emmanuel Clase is one of the best closers in baseball. He had 42 saves in 2022 and a 1.36 ERA.

Nick Sandlin and Sam Hentges are two young relievers who pitched well in 2022. They will look to take on bigger roles next season.

The Guardians have a solid roster that should be able to compete in the AL Central in 2023. They have a good mix of young and veteran players, and they have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.
