April Ross and Alix Klineman gave a masterclass at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, defeating the Australian pair of Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy in straight sets to win the gold medal in beach volleyball. The Americans were too strong for their opponents, winning 21-15, 21-16.

Ross and Klineman were the dominant team in the tournament, winning all of their matches in straight sets. They only dropped one set during the entire tournament, which came in their semi-final victory over the Brazilian pair of Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Santos Lisboa.
