Max Verstappen continued his imperious form in the 2022 Formula 1 season by securing pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver clocked a stunning lap time of 1:23.824, nearly three-tenths of a second clear of his teammate Sergio Perez. The result marked the Dutchman's sixth pole position in the last seven races and extended his extraordinary qualifying record this season to 10.

Perez put in a strong performance to finish second, just 0.299 seconds behind Verstappen. The Mexican driver will be hoping to challenge his teammate for the race victory and secure second place in the championship standings. The third and fourth positions on the grid were occupied by the Ferrari duo of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, who were 0.444 seconds and 0.472 seconds slower than Verstappen, respectively.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, November 20, at the Yas Marina Circuit. Verstappen will be aiming to secure his 16th victory of the season and end the year on a high note. However, with Perez and the Ferraris close behind, the Dutchman will have to be at his best to clinch the win.
